August 2016 - Shanghai, China
Client: Municipality of Shanghai
SODA Shanghai Open Data Apps Competition

Shuiku is service presented to the Municipality of Shanghai to dispense purified water through automatic distributors placed all over the city. Users can fill their own bottles at the closest automatic water distributor, interacting through the mobile APP. The service educates aware users to a responsible water consumption and encourage them to reduce the usage of plastic bottles while increasing their life standards. Target users are resident people in Shanghai, of all ages, who have healthy life standards and would love to enjoy fresh and clean water, paying attention to the environment, instead of purchasing plastic bottles at convenience stores. In order to deal with the current water-related issues, three complementary solutions have been designed: 1. a portable branded aluminum bottle, distributed for free to early adopters 2. a multiplatform mobile APP, to locate the water distributors, interact with them and manage the payments 3. a serie of automatic water distributors and purifier, customizable with advertisement and located close to points of interests, hospitals, schools and crowded spots. The aim of the project is to improve the environmental and sanitary conditions, while incrementing water consumption from urban aqueduct and collaborate with private companies for CSR projects. The easiness to be scaled-up will make it an example for other Chinese cities.
