One of Italia Independent’s main collection is the I-Thermic. This collection of sunglasses comprehends several shapes and models, but the main characteristic of them is that they react to different temperatures, showing a change of pattern and colors. That’s why we have been asked to design a particular fair display, with a heating mechanism. The I-Thermic heater responds to these needs. The shape, designed for collecting the warm air flow over the sunglasses, is inspired by Renzo Piano’s Ferrari Wind Gallery (Maranello, Italy). The main structure is made by welded commercial aluminum profiles in order to optimize the production, the weight and the costs. The central cylinder, with the space for one pair of glasses and a ON/OFF button is painted in matte black, while the vertical profiles are painted in glossy white. These profiles are both load-bearing and necessary for containing the electronic components, like a fan, an electrical resistance and two different timers. A smaller version of I-Thermic heater has been designed. You can see it here.
